Yes, and the period that led up to the crash of 1929 and the great depression was one of almost total laissez faire capitalism. As the depression deepened FDR was prevented from intervening by Supreme Court decisions for several years until he appointed new justices. Then the economy began to recover. You need a refresher course in American history.
