If you came to town.

First thing we would do is to drive over to Hotchkiss. We would stop in Paonia in the health food store and have lunch. We would buy some groceries. Nice farm raised foods from the surrounding area sold there. Always a surprise crop that a local raised that would make you smile in anticipation of sampling...... mmmmmm. good.

Then on to Darnell's. He has twenty acres of the prettiest place you have ever seen. His house sits in the middle of a forest that he and I planted. The trees are twenty five feet now. They were about six foot when we planted them.

He calls himself Red Dog. He has a red dog. He has everything. Two underground houses on the land. Really nice ones. Darnell is a specialty guide. He guides river trips all over the world. If you had a need to float a river in Chile or Russia Darnell would be the guide.

Then we would go down Escalante Canyon east of Delta.

From there its all west man. all west. it is where nature still reigns.

supreme.

before the trip is half over we must sit in the restaurant at the river bridge in Mexican Hat, Utah. Right where the road sharply bends south to go over the San Juan

Best Green Chili in 400 miles.

After that I don't care where we go. That is the highlite of the trip.

If you have ever been there you will understand.
