Quite true.
Underground should be ok. One threat is cows; the phone pole is in a slide area ,and the line drooped enuf a trespassing cow got it down to the ground. And they still haven't replaced the pole; just tightened up the wire. Biggest prob I have with the hill is stability. There is a nice spot on my side of the gully which could do, although in 20 years or so, a tree might effect them. The other side of the gully may slide. Part of the hill has in the past; hence the phone pole. I think I've got some good stable spots with more sun, but I worry about crossing the gully. It may be as deep as 8 feet where I need to go. Nice and stable, cuz I put lots of work into it, but may be hard to put in a trench across it. The trench on my side of the gully will probably have to dodge tree roots. I'm favoring the house, even tho I may get an hour less sun there.
