I agree that it's important to keep our melting pot melting. But we don't really have a problem with ethnic exclusion other than the continuing legacy of slavery. There was an article the other day--I think it was posted here--about why immigrants in the US don't riot. And it's true, they don't. As for mislabling "immigration," for the purposes of this issue I don't think the sub-categories matter. Regardless of how folks came to be living here, it's not healthy to isolate ethnic or cultural groups.
