I've never thought it was predictable by the volume in gun ownership. It is the ratio in different countries where ownership is liberal that interests me. WATCH IT, BUDDY! That's an American liberal icon you're goring there! For instance: "almost half of murders are committed by a narrow social group of Black males age 17 to 50 (constituting less than 3% of general population)" en.wikipedia.org Now if you take this 3% demographic out of the equation the U.S. would compare favourably with any country in the world. In a related observation we look at the recent catastrophe in Orleans and ITS reputation as the murder capital. In NO, those blacks had already learned that violence or threat of violence was an effective way- -usually the only way- -of getting their way. The racial problems of this country were not solved by that awful bloody American Civil War, nor have they been solved by civil rights and social legislation since the 1960's; in fact, that social legislation has been charged with worsening the problem. What's it going to take that can be done practically? If you figure it out, let us know. So what sociological demographics encourage Black males to commit murder?? They were certainly not all that aggressive when they were slaves...?? Or so the myth goes. Would you go quietly into that night of slavery? These were our versions. This is a sensitive issue but facts must be faced square on if problems are to be solved. Now I take it for granted that a good percentage of Black criminals are framed by police or others. No argument. I personally know a black man who was convicted of rape, served 7 years, and then was exonerated by DNA testing. Strangely (to me, at least), he's not bitter and is successfully rebuilding his life. When you're only hope of an income is criminal activity, you resort to criminal activity. You guard gang drug dealing territory. You shoot trespassers from other gangs. Need to expand? You wage war on another gang.
