Could it be that those younger Americans are also some of the ones that have used pot responsibly and contrary to many marijuana myths have found that they can still function normally in life?

One of the more interesting poll results, IMO, was that Independents appear (as with many other issues) to be more willing to look beyond the stultified policies of the past... as with approaches to the deficits, flat tax simplification proposals, etc., etc.

"By party: 21 percent of Republican voters favor legalization; 37
percent of Democrats; and a whopping 44 percent of self-identified Independents."

And, of course, *much* larger numbers of voters would approve of more incremental changes to policy, apart from total legalization... such as support for the medical use of marijuana, or supporting it's reclassification away from the DEA's "schedule 1" classification, down to a lesser classification that more honestly reflected it's more minor potential for societal harm, yet still kept it as a banned substance, still illegal (as Great Britain did last year, and Portugal and Spain prior, etc.)
