Good point. I lived in several countries full or part time and never had a serious compatibility problem once I learned enough of the local lingo to get around.

Jews are inextricably connected to that land due to their religion.

Frankly, that is why I think Christian religion is superior to both. We can live anywhere and don't need to fight anyone (at least in today's world), but Muslims and Jews think that land is important enough to kill each other over it.

Plenty of Jews live outside Israel and have no meaningful connection to Israel. Same with plenty of Muslims living in Detroit and having no major connection with the Middle East.

But what is sort of unique/bizarre about Islam is that the Haj (every Muslim who is capable should visit Mecca and perform some rites) is ONE of the FIVE pillars of Islam. That is sort of incredible, I don't think Christianity has ANYTHING like that (eg, YOU MUST VISIT THE POPE!! :-)), and I don't know that much about Judaeism.

If it had been me 60 years ago deciding the fate of the Jews, I would have given them carte blanche to immigrate to the US. That would have been a better solution. But I wonder if they would have accepted? Jews are inextricably connected to that land due to their religion.

Sixty years ago, Americans wouldn't have allowed it.
