But at least we have made a good nation out of this one.

What makes you think we've made a good nation?

We've been bombing the hell out of two nations, we are torturing the hell out of our enemies, we have made a mess of our environment, we produce 25% of the world's pollution but have only 5% of its population; after 60 years of laws prohibiting discrimination and after 150 years since slavery was abolished, discrimination is alive and well in these disunited states; we have a significant underclass in spite of the fact we are one of the wealthiest nations on the earth; twenty percent of our budget goes to defense; we are the only nation to nuke another nation.

Have we done good things? Yes, of course. But there's enough bad to offset the good.

And God knows we are nothing like the Indians who never had rivers that caught fire or lakes that didn't freeze over in winter because of chemicals or who killed off animals to near extinction.

We're not the greatest country if we elect liars, thieves, extremists and cheaters to lead us. We're also not the greatest if we snub our noses at the world and do what we want even it's hurtful to the planet. Very important distinction.

We may have our best days ahead of us, but were at our finest with JFK and Clinton as our presidents. Reagan was an inspiration, but he had too many Bushie-type schmecklers working behind him. What the GOP needs now is to clean house of corruption. Then they can rise again to be a credit to their country and not a detriment. I recommend Chuck Hagel. The only man brave and honest enough in the senate to stand up and tell it like it is.
