I wouldn't be opposed to a one year draft. A lot of people would be better off if they had 12 weeks of bootcamp.

Wars are run by politicians. Generals just fight the war. Of course the generals will say the war is going OK.

I wonder why you say wars are not won overnight. Desert Storm was won within 3 weeks. Very specific goal, well co-ordinated plan and the US and the US led coalition won.

Wars certainly can be won overnight. But not under the leadership of this President who goes to South America and tells people there that our society does not condone torture while his VP on that very day is lobbying Congress to give CIA special powers where they could torture people. Looks to me that they are not well co-ordinated. No plan whether it is to plan the Iraq war or anything else for that matter.
