Many, There is no way that home prices will always go up, which I know you are aware of. That makes those interest only mortgages a burden on the home owner that costs him money, and he owns nothing. Perhaps I am too much "old school", but if I pay out money, I want to own something for doing so. You're right though, if the price goes down too much, the resident of the house can just slip away into the night, but I doubt that the lenders care. They will always find some other sucker to pick up the tab.
