Fitzgerald can put them all under oath if he wants to. Nobody knows where Fitzgerald might go with Plamegate. He's obviously investigating Rove and probably Cheney too, could go all the way to Bush. That whole "sell the Iraq War War group" could be indicted. It includes Rice, Card and others. It also includes a whistleblower type named Wilkerson who has already stated publicly that the WH deceived the country. Look out.

The Special Prosecutor has some leeway but if he finds illegality he is compelled to investigate it. For instance if he subpoenas email records and finds a separate crime, he could go after that. It's really up to him and open-ended. That's why the White House has good reason to remain afraid.

Similarly, Tom DElay's phone and email records are now subpoenas in Texas, so he may have additional problems. And this Abramoff investigation is discovering all kinds of tentacles.
