Iran is 3 times larger and 3 times more populous than Iraq. If you mess with it, you will have a problem 10 times bigger than Iraq. And on top of that, the Shias in Iraq (who are ethnically and ideologically allied with Iran) will start their own insurgency, making Iraq 5 times messier than what it is now.

So if you want a problem that is 15 times bigger than what you have now, you will mess with Iran.
