You disagree that the US could stop oil production in Iraq if the terrorists took over? Of course you don't. That's why you changed the subject. Not without a full blockade of Iraqi, Syrian, and Turkish ports. Oil Smuggling was endemic during the "Oil for Graft.... err.. Food" days.. It still happens.. And the point IS to INSURE that oil flows so the western and developing economies have the ability to purchase fairly priced energy, NOT TO DECREASE THAT AMOUNT. So the primary means of accomplishing that is to do our level best to insure that the economic resources in Iraq are not monopolized by an unelected and non-accountable few.. But I'm sure people like yourself PREFER dictatorships and centralized governments controlling everything (just so long as you're one of the privileged apparatchiks, right??) I didn't say that Saddam was part of 9/11, and NEITHER DID BUSH. What was said is that in a post-9/11 world, permitting individuals such as Saddam to continue thumbing their noses at international law (Binding Chapter VII UNSC Resolutions) was a danger we could not permit. Saddam was brought down because there was a LEGAL CASE that could be made against him in the UNSC that he was in material breach of a Cease-Fire accord. That declaration of Material Breach was passed UNANIMOUSLY in the UNSC.. So NOT JUST THE US, but the rest of the UNSC members agreed that Saddam was in definance of his obligations to obey the UNSC directed cease fire accords. That's why Saddam was brought down.. Read this over and over a couple of times UNTIL IT GETS POUNDED INTO YOUR SKULL. NOW.. As in CURRENTLY.. there is an Islamic Militant insurgency (INVASION) going on in Iraq. These ARE THE SAME PEOPLE who brought us 9/11. And THAT'S WHO WE'RE FIGHTING.. I'll fight them anywhere.. Iraq, the HOA, Indonesia.. Afghanistan.. Whereever we have an opportunity to destroy their intolerant and violent belief they are trying to force upon the world, as well as their fellow muslims. Hawk
