AU Optronics forms separate consumer, IT businesses

MANHASSET, N.Y. — Taiwan-based display supplier AU Optronics Corp. has restructured its business groups along two industry sectors, Information Technology Displays and Consumer Electronic Displays, effective Dec. 1.

AU Optronics expects the new structure to help it better serve diverging market trends and customer needs.

The Information Technology Display Business Group will include the company’s Desktop Display Business Unit, Notebook Display Business Unit, and General Display Business Division. It will be headed by Paul Peng, general manager of AUO’s SuZhou module plant, since 2002.

The Consumer Electronics Display Business Group will include the Company's TV Display Business Unit, Audio-Video Display Business Unit, and Mobile Device Display Business Unit. It will be headed by David Su, head of the TV Display Business Unit.

AU Optronics has also established a Board of Management to be in charge of corporate strategic planning. The board will consist of the company’s seven vice presidents, each with his area of responsibility.
