You're right, I was being driven more by hope than anything else in trying to make something of them <g>. Ditto with location, but therein lies the problem. Matching where you can reasonably afford to live with where you'd like to live <g>.

For me, the main thing is to not be in a hurry, and extensive research on what is available at what price.

Good advice also. My wife and I are looking at a 2 or 3 years down the road at this point. I've always had the attitude that my home is where ever I hang my hat, it's keeping my wife in check that will be the waiting problem <g>. At that point we should be solidly in the same position as you in being able to slap a wad of cash down on our next house.

Now the geniuses of finance have come up with those "interest only" mortgages that are a bad joke

I put finance companies in the same grouping as ambulance chasers... If there's a way to get your money, they'll figure it out......
