As for the merits of day trading...

Had you bought QC at the IPO, and promptly gone into a cave for the next seven years or so, you would have emerged with a compound rate of return on your investment near 50%. Most investors get so 'cute' trying to time the swings in and out, that they maximize their cash taxes and snatch defeat from the jaws of high-return victory. Oh well.
