If Paris's parents gave her the hotel empire while they lived, they would not be subject to the inheritiance tax, which only kicks in after death and above a high threshold of dollars ( I believe over a million dollars at this time, and 5.5 million dollar cap is proposed ). I think they'd be subject to the gift tax.

What they should do to keep Paris in the chips is set up a trust. They probably already have. Most rich parents do this, mainly to keep their worthless children from blowing it all, and to avoid taxes.
