It becomes intuitive, like part of your body. Just think where the leaflet is going and you go there. Up and down paths, forwards, backwards, turning on the spot, uphill, down or across slopes, all very easy. Maybe uncoordinated people would find it tricky. After a couple of days of doing several hours, I had sea legs = felt like I was riding it when I was back on dry land. Meanwhile, here's what I think is needed. The handlebars seem redundant. Turning could be done with a handheld Bluetooth-linked gadget. Or by toe pressure = a bit of pressure on left toe to go right and right toe to go left [so one is stacked out for cornering]. Or voice "left" for left, right for "right". Choose 1 to 10 for rate of turn. "Left 1" would be a slow left turn. But that would interfere with cellphone conversations. It's a shame to waste a hand for turning when it could be doing something else. I had a look in Google images and came up with this. tinylittlesparks.com I thought somebody would already have done it. Maybe Segway has plans: I like the single wheel idea. Like a unicycle but much, much easier as no forward backward balance would be needed. Just a slight forward roll and it would be as easy to balance as a bicycle. Anyone can do that. Mqurice PS: Yes, the Segway does do 20 kph uphill as well as on the flat. It's really nice to zoom up a hill. They are not for fatties though. A little 40 kg person would go twice as far as a 100 kg one. Originally posted Message 22358405 as there were previous discussion on Segways there.
