The only reason is that I trade mostly SOX (g); comparison with SPY is certainly better. Still, the difference between being down 3% vs up 4% is significant.

I agree with what you are saying. Still, Hussman's approach is based in large part on market timing, and his timing this year was poor.

Hussman beat XLE in the last three months.

a mattress beat XLE the last three months. even a sagging mattress with aphoristic bedbugs -g-.

but XLE trounced Hussman over the past year, by about 3500 basis points.
