MJ:
I cannot determine who is actually in the race for the Democrat party. As usual there is much jockeying for position. At times the DNC Chair can have a significant influence over nominations, but less so in the Presidential nomination. Can you imagine a Kerry Clinton or Clinton Kerry ticket? Why would Kerry accept the second seat? Only a person with little regard for life would let hillary ride in the second spot. Can Mark Warner surge? He is less known. Historically the unknowns have done well every few Presidential election cycles.

RE: Rice as Kissinger. Very interesting, i will have to contemplate that.

"Rice doesn't have a spouse to influence her thinking and to be a shadow President. Both Carter and Clinton had wives who wanted to influence policy."

I didn't know anyone remembered Rosemary wanted a role. At least she accepted her lot, Hillary never did.

"Is there really a Reagan Coalition now?"

Not really. It seems like religious conservatives have much influence in the Republican Party. I just cannot see Romney or Gulliani going any further than Harriet Miers did. Who will step out of the shadows to be the Republican front runner?
