Theo Van Gogh's murder has nothing to do with Dutch society. It was a killing like any other. Someone got mad at him and did him in. No different that say Eric Rudolph blowing up a womens clinic. Theo egged on the extremists and got himself killed.

If you want personal freedom, Holland is the place for you.
It's very liberal there, and extremely orderly and well-mannered. rightwingers like to bash Holland but I found they have fewer problems with drugs, sex, crime, descrimination and poverty than anyplace I've ever been.

For instance, legalizing marijuana may seem immoral, but the net result is Dutch kids don't care about pot. It's mainly for tourists, whom the Dutch kids make fun of. The Dutch stick to their beer.
