We have much bigger issues than abortion. I think everyone is sick to death of that issue except zealots on the far right and far left. We need to keep it safe, legal and rare. Women should keep RU-486 handy just in case. Unwanted pregnancies are the real problem. Because then it's a no-win decision for the woman. B ut it should be her personal decision, not a moral decision dictated by the state.

"We are talking about the time before abortion was legalized in non communist Western Europe, which started happening in the early seventies."

I understand that. I also know that it is only legal under some very narrow conditions, i.e. rape, in Germany even today, although it won't be prosecuted if it is in the first trimester and the woman undergoes counseling. However, the topic under discussion is similarities between liberal democracies and communist countries. In the time period you are talking about, that wasn't one of them. In at least some countries, it still isn't.

If we give everyone who wants one a Plan B pill, won't abortions be so OVER? Why not eliminate abortions that way? Repugnicans even dis CONDOMS!
