Trying to take politics out of this for a moment, does it trouble you that months after 9/11 a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee went to Syria, a country which perennially finds itself among the top listings of terrorist-sponsoring nations, to discuss President Bush's decision-making on the war on terror with Bashar Assad, one of the worst sponsors of terror?

I'm nonplussed.
