I grew up on a ranch not far from where my Finnish emigrant grandmother and grandfather first established their place.. They had a authentic sauna down by the creek, a timber building with a "warm room" to undress and the next room was the sauna with three or four steps of stairs surrounding a rock-encased steel drum.. So on Saturday night, we would all go in and choose our level of heat by the steps of the benches. And then throw some water on the rocks as needed.. I will never forget those days.. Just a quick synopsis of a real sauna.. c
