Bushies making a huge mistake defending gas gougers. It's one more reason why Bush just fell to his lowest approval rating ever, 34%, the same as Nixon had just before he resigned.

Re: "It's disgusting the way that congress, including some GOP'ers who should know better, is posturing and pandering on this issue.."

And a crying shame the truth is so hard to find, even on Fox. How can "you decide," when there is no decent report explaining the widely understood side of the issue we know so well, no Milton Friedman sorts allowed on-air, to speak of. Hell, the left should praise Fox for carrying on the biases they hold so dear, in many ways.

Nice post...and a nice ruthless deserved reply to Amspurt...nice.

The Bushie energy gouging started the day after Cheney was first nominated. There for the first time in US history, the entire US and Saudi oil business was united behind two of their own, including the CEO of one of their biggest companies. This new cabal also included polluters and those wanting to dismantle environmental protection for profit.

The fix was in, the die was cast, arrangements were made and with hotshot engineer Enron in the lead they attacked the west coast first, trying out their gouging and manipulation tricks to see how many tens of billions they could steal.

Total tab, first run about 50 billion

They stopped after Jeffords gave Dems subpeona powers, then began again in earnest once the GOP cheated to control both houses, using the Iraq War (another pet project of theirs) as an exxcuse to brand Dems as "traitors".

The gouging has continued more or less aggressively ever since. I spoke to a Texas oilman who admitted they've been gouging since June 2000, and I heard an oil expert say that approcimately 30% of the price is gouging windfall profits.

Bush lied when he said he could do nothing about gas prices. He has done it. He's helped push them UP.
