Reading your message, makes me think you need to go to EVERY newspaper (major ones anyway) and tell them THEY are getting the terminology wrong.

You misunderstand. I'm not telling them they're wrong. I understand what the official definition is although it took me a while before I did and I had to work hard to figure it out.

The term as adopted by the administration is an unnecessary misnomer. "Unconventional weapons" or "terrorist weapons" would have worked fine, I think, and not caused the communication problems. The term is terribly inapt. If its adoption was not a misnomer, then it was an intentional deception.

I'm trying to explain why some people misunderstood and, as a result, came to the conclusion that Bush mislead them.

First, WMD was ONLY part of the reason we went to war in Iraq.
