I've been very consistent. I am a fiscal conservative / social libertarian Republican - a dying breed.

Mr. Bush is the exact opposite: fiscally irresponsible and socially conservative. So I've been working against Bush - that is no secret - I even volunteered for the Kerry campaign last year!

I used to have a decent relationship with my GOP congressman (Christopher Cox, now at the SEC). I've been complaining to him for several years that the GOP is going in the wrong direction.

Cox used to campaign on being a fiscal conservative, but when Bush took office he stopped mentioning the deficit. I told him in early '03 that I thought the Iraq invasion was bad for America and the GOP. Since then I've been working for DEMs and Independents. That is no secret.

I will probably support Hagel in '08. Otherwise, I will be voting DEM or 3rd party again.
