Would gold not face the same type of risk?

Say a rogue trader defaults. His employer say:

"He acted on his own, and we are not reponsible"

Gold then would crash!

This trader sold 200,000MTs that don't exist. So why would it crash? This is like tapping the SPR before Karita and then having nothing in the SPR to use when the market actually needs it.
