The air is drier then here in the South. That's what I'm told. Makes me no never mind, when it's cold, I don't care if it's wet or dry, it's still COLD!!

You hit the nail on the head when you described our southern cold as "bone chilling"! Forty degrees down here feels like zero in Montana, but only in the shade. (It's the humidity!) I find comfort in the fact that the sunshine is so warm. One can get by wearing shorts and a tee shirt on a forty degree day providing he stays in the sun.
