Sex was demonized by religious leaders a long time back, I suppose to separate themselves from the pagans. But this was not something Jesus said to do. It was others, later. They did things like rewrite Genesis to change the sexual dynamics of the Garden Of Eden story. According to what I remember reading, Adam was originally in the Garden with Eve and Lilith, two naked babes, Lilith being the sexy one. So the elders changed Lilith into a snake. In other words, sexy women are evil snakes. SCARY! And that sets up the whole virgin-whore complex, as if a woman can only be a virgin or an evil whore and nothing in between. Think of how many millions of lives that myth and prejudice has destroyed over the centuries. And all those poor chaste nuns and priests and their secret desires, leading in many cases to pedophilia. Interesting that in the Buddhist faith, there is no demonization of sex. No guilt associated with it all. Islamists it seems are the worst sexists and repressed homosexuals around. They cut off heads for doing exactly what they all want to do, and do secretly. The second worst hypocrites are the American Christian right. Just look at Jimmy SWaggart and Jim Bakker as proof of that.
