I didn't have much contact with those opposing Vietnam. I was married to an Air Force officer and working as a civilian Army employee at the Pentagon at the time. But it was pretty clear to me that abatement of suffering was a big part of their objective. It's hard to fault them too much for being concerned particularly about American suffering.

have you ever heard John Kerry express remorse for the fall of South Vietnam and the suffering that followed?

Can't say that I have noticed one way or the other. For me, that war is long over. I recognize that it is still a factor for many so I try to stay away from the subject.
