"Our reasons for going in have changed as we discovered the current reason was no longer valid"

The reason has been the same since the beginning. To prevent the possibility of Saddam supplying WMDs to terrorists or those who would use them against us.

Repeat this out loud.

We did not go to war because Saddam HAD WMDs.

We went to war because Saddam might give WMDs to others.

That we did not find any is pretty insignificant imo. But it allowed the pro Saddam folks to change the reason for the war in the minds of the masses. Wish the White House was a bit better at PR. I think people that think Saddam would never have given WMDs to terrorists are a bit naive.

The beehive analogy is interesting. It is like we did that, which is a good thing imo. What Bush (and his supporters) didn't expect was that there were so many who wanted to support the bees. Think if people used common sense and logic and actually helped swat the little suckers instead of making excuses for their appalling behavior. The oh no I'm going to wet myself cause the terrorists are mad we are fighting back is an argument I find particulary irritating.

"Iraq was an imminent threat with WMD"
Bush said BEFORE HE BACAME "an imminent threat". It was Rockefeller I believe who said he was one.

"an uncooperative dictator pursuing nuclear weapons"

Most believed this at the time. And some smart people still think it is true.

"that he planned to give to terrorists"
Bush never said he actually had plans. It was to prevent this in a post 9-11 world. He did try to kill Bush's dad, so to think he would help terrorists is not a stretch.

Note that you needed to slightly change the actual stance of the President in your arguments. It gives me pause, and should give you pause too.
