<Does the NZ media focus its attention on the Iraq war? How about the terrorist issue? Are they paying attention to recent events in Australia? >

Sure. NZ is so small and quiet that nearly everything happens somewhere else. NZers are also very international in perspective so take a strong interest in happenings around the world.

Compare The New Zealand Herald herald.co.nz with USA Today for example. They are general circulation mass media which "everyone" reads. usatoday.com

The USA is so big and important and so much happens that it's not surprising that Americans don't take much notice of what happens elsewhere and don't understand elsewhere.
