Jefferson was adamant about dissent and debate being the cornerstone of a healthy democracy, and majority opinion being the real law, as any honest Republican will freely admit. The problem is, these corrupt selfish rightwing neocons and religious right types won't tolerate debate and dissent, nor truthful statement of fact. They have even deliberately manipulated the press and attacked any network or paper which has been critical of them as un-patriotic. They have also smeared their opponents with outrageous lies and libel. That is McCarthyism. That is wrong. That borders on Goebbels Nazism.
