A real move to the center requires a repudiation of the partisan politics from the last 25 years. A promising candidate or two or three needs to say enough is enough, this is self-serving dysfunctional crap that is wrecking our country while huge problems go unaddressed, all so a few greedy SOBs in side the Beltway can go to bed at night feeling important (and a flock of talk radio hosts can keep their syndication contracts another year).

Once you dismiss narrowminded partisanship and start with we are all Americans who want the best for our country, the more sensible approach to domestic and foreign policy will follow as a matter of course.

Deficits could be reduced with a broadranging spending cut plan. Supreme Court judges could be nominated in a flash if they reflected mainstream American values and ideals. Using force abroad would be selective and rare, while ongoing multilateral diplomacy was strengthened again in reliable alliances, not ad hoc partnerships.

And so on and so on. Or maybe I am just dreaming.

The vicious attacks by the republicans are pretty funny, considering they are actually also attacking the American people. As we have seen on SI, calling your opponent names, and being a twit, rarely convinces people to accept your ideas- oddly enough it often has the reverse effect.

Surely, you are not saying that "only republicans make vicious attacks"? There are plenty of attacks on both sides on the SI political threads. And.....it was kennedy, pelosi, reid and a few others (including slick willie) who began the vicious attacks at the national level.

Here is a question if you care to reply. Do you believe that the AQ terrorists would cease their attacks on Americans if we pulled out of Iraq and Afghanistan immediately?
