Every totalitarian movement tries to suppress ideas they don't agree with. The American left is at it's heart a totalitarian movement. So they try to suppress ideas when they can.

I don't disagree with your umbrella statement, only that this is an example of it. I suppose you'd call that nitpicking.

They may be trying to suppress the influence of religion with their opposition to "Merry Christmas," but the notion that they are trying to suppress awareness of the fact that religion exists, which was the original assertion, is ridiculous. I call that gross illogic.

[I can't tell you how much it saddens me to face every day the dearth of critical thinking that permeates so much of what I read. People make the most thoughtless, fallacious, and demagogic assertions and the crowd cheers them on. All my life I've nurtured the apparently incorrect notion that we were getting smarter. It just breaks my heart and I fear for our future. That's why I don't consider it nitpicking. The brain--use it or lose it.]
