I agree that Bush's family name got him everything up to the Governor's mansion, which was the key to the White House in the particular circumstances when Bush ran in 2000. But my gut feeling is that Bush didn't win Tennessee because he had more name recognition; rather, Gore was a weak inheritor of Clinton's political legacy who fumbled the ball.

Clinton himself would have beaten GW easily in 2000.

I do hope that the world realizes what a nothing job the Texas governorship is - look at the roster of yo-yo's who held the job and it's apparent. So "no qualifications, a shaky background, no prior political office and a clumsy personal style" is no obstacle at all, LOL.
