Dunno. Gold can be traded for half day Saturday here in HK via HSBC gold denominated savings account enabled by the Internet, and so there must be underlying spot gold trading somewhere, else HSBC leaves itself exposed.

OTOH, HSBC explicitly notifies users that their gold certificate may not be backed one-for-one by physical gold.

You can trade the Gold Mini on the CBOT over the weekend. However, I am not aware where you can trade spot.

Current quote for Dec is $486.40 (-0.50) with a high of 489.50 and a low of 484.00.
