Are you advocating that America go it alone and get involved in the civil war? Why do you want to advocate a line where we put 150,000 US lives in jeopardy. We have stood by in som many civil wars in the past. What is different here. We all knew, including past US Presidents, that removing Saddam would engulf that region in a civil war. Hence the marching orders were to contain Saddam and not remove him. Containment worked for 10 years But then Cheney and his oil henchmen suddenly decided that they need to be the beneficiary of Iraqi oil and not the French. So they marched in and suddenly created a vacuum.

What is so tough to admit a mistake. We know that this President does not even know when he has committed a mistake and could not recall any when asked by reporters.

I agree with you that Iraq is a powder keg with the only thing keeping the lid on being the 140,000 US troops.

Unfortunately that’s the way it will remain. Eventually the US will leave with nothing accomplished and Iraq will descend into viscous civil war. Once done the victorious factions will write their own constitution.

The alternative is the current status quo. Paralysis, a huge resource and money pit, as the US bleeds over 3 deaths per day.
