They poll and plan, and poll and don't act. If they change that, fine. If they don't, fine. The former case they will survive. The latter case means they die. I don't have an emotional investment either way, except it will be nicer for most people if they take the first. I can't be sure but it seems like they are changing albeit slowly. We have to remember that most people lost their voices under the first 4 years of the current regime. Some of us did not, but for those who did, getting one's voice back can be difficult.".............there has to be a serious restructuring of American goals and priorities........." Yup. Historically speaking, massive failures like with the storms or the massive miscalculation of Iraq or what seems to be most of the Republicans coming up on charges of one form or other, tends to mean a realignment is in the offing. I don't think we have ever seen this sort of confluence of major forces. I am inclined to believe that people will accept bigger changes as a result. That is, as long as the reformers don't turn out to be bigger crooks than the ones they replace. Make no mistake, there will be changes. The forewarned need to be aware and insure that the changes are for the better, instead of random ones that cancel each other out and we wind up in the same place again... If the reforms cancel each other out, then that's the end of America's greatness.......we will have peaked as a civilization and will be on the descendant. Right now, that looks like a very likely prospect. It is the whole "mandate of heaven" thing. The Republicans and the status quo were cut a lot of slack because they seemed to be otherwise taking care of business. But it is crystal clear that they weren't. And they aren't capable of even regrouping and attacking the problems. Instead, they ignore them and keep on doing the same old, same old at a higher rate than before. I think in general its a very bad combination of weak morality, poor intellect but a high degree of cleverness, indifference appearing as incompetence, a lack of real experience and profound greed. I think Bush pretty much reflects those qualities.........that's why he's their standard bearer. ted
