Hey, they had de Gaulle! :-)

Whether or not the U.S. pulled their "appropriate load" during the beginning of WW11 is debatable. They certainly fought for the survival of their Nation in the Pacific theatre after P.H.
It is difficult to characterize the ludicrosity of that statement.

"If Solon thinks that we just played a limited role in WW2 in Europe, he should go back to high school history"

That won't happen.

I said it was debatable whether the U.S. pulled an appropriate load during the BEGINNING of WW11. I was being polite. I withdraw the remark in light of your reckless hubris.

I find it unfortunate that Japan and Germany had to declare War against the States before the U.S. would join the allied forces. That was something like 2 1/2 years after the allies started fighting in a battle that would cost 50,000,000 lives?

Here are the losses. Note the Soviet Union losses of 23,000,000 versus a combined 1,000,000 for U.S., Britain, and Canada? And THEY stopped the Germans from overpowering a country rich in resources and geographic influence.

So instead of making mocking references to high school--perhaps we should appreciate that war is Hell and that all those whom fought and died were heroes.

It was just that kind of talk that got your ass kicked in 1813.
