"You mean we'll just have to live with Islamic fundamentalism for generations to come?"

Who knows? But that isn't the issue in Iraq right now, except for some, maybe all, of the attacks on our troops. There is a civil war going on, you need numbers that exceed what a decent police force would be. And under the circumstances, we can't depend on the Iraqis taking the burden, because those security people are just addition combatants. There is already an independent Kurdistan in all but name. And things are pretty quiet, there. And southern Iraq is pretty quiet also, but it is almost exclusively Shia. The rest of Iraq is up for grabs. And the intensity is growing. Before too much longer, it will be open conflict, and that puts our people in extreme danger. We just don't have enough people to stop it, they will be killed if they try. The model has changed to Northern Ireland.

I don't understand why they are blind to the reality.
