Samsung Electronics in a filing says board OKs plan to invest US$615.4 mln to build a new memory-chip production facility based in Hwaseong, south of Seoul. Plant will produce dynamic random access memory (D.R.A.M) chips and N.A.N.D. flash memory chips used in MP3 players and digital cameras. Plant is expected to open in 1H '06.
