I think elected officials have perfected this little "access dance" that turns reporters into whores for access. The Bushies have elevated it to an art. There may not always BE Helen Thomas's if it's allowed to continue, but you can bet they're will always be Bob Woodwards, Jeff Gannons and Fox News.

I think monthly press conferences with an hour of questions should be just part of the job description for the President, it should be mandantory. The questioners order should be chosen by random drawing prior to the conference. It might help to end the WH's use of the press as stenographers.
