Thanks DJ. Hayes is certainly a lot of fun. Now 4 months old and enjoying life to the full. He is like our son-in-common-law; a charmer who likes the ladies. It's funny to see it in an infant. They like him too, fawning over him all over the place. I quite like carrying Hayes while the gorgeous young women [and old] come up to talk to the little charmer.

He was born with a ridiculous head of hair [ringlets when wet and in Elvis wave when dry] and now sometimes has a little Samurai top-knot and a little kung-fu kimono thingy. He's a tough little guy, also like his father, who was in NZ under-19 rugby team lining up for All Blacks until his knee was badly smashed in a tackle - despite highly technical rescue operations, they couldn't get it good enough to continue.

Hayes holds onto my fingers and runs along in a loping gait, laughing away. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

There are babies everywhere and swarms of twins. It's an echo echo baby boom. The baby boomers' children are going nuts breeding. The twins are because women in their thirties are having fertility treatment and the rate of pregnancy per attempt has gone from about 10% to 90% in 4 years so now they are having to go to single embryo treatment. They used to put in two, hoping one would attach.

My wife had noticed lots of twins a year or two ago and reckoned it must have been due to fertility treatment. Also had noticed swarms of babies, which I hadn't. You will read about the baby boom soon I think, there are so many. Though maybe it's just my bias having been sensitized to babies again due to our involvement. Google probably has the actual data.
