"GW has signed a lot of bills that will cost a lot of money, and I don't really know why. I don't think that his intention is to waste money, or enhance any particular industry, but it is a mystery." Maybe President Bush views his place in history as similar to the last President to follow a crook. Gerald Ford vetoed many bills. He forced Congress to over ride many vetoes. Gerald Ford seemed to view his role to avoid embarrassing the office, and as a caretaker. President Bush has refused to be the adult and put his foot down. How much federal waste could he have prevented by vetoing a few spending bills? He expected the SCOTUS to be the adults on McPain FindGold and they too punted. "There may be a war between the tribes, but that is probably going to happen regardless of anything we do. It's worse than the Catholics fighting the Protestants, in Ireland." Yes, but we did not send troops to help quell the violence in Ireland. "The Dems are so intent in preventing any conservative from getting a seat on the Supreme Court, that they have stymied some of Bush's nominees. That makes him look for a less controversial candidate that can be accepted, but will still have a conservative bent to his decisions. Do anything to keep a liberal off the Supreme Court." As long as they are rewarded for their efforts they will only redouble them. Only when it has a political cost will they get the message. This should be the main issue for every republican Senate candidate. "I am still for evicting the UN from US soil. If they can't headquarter here, they would have a very difficult chance of getting another country to take them in because of their inability to be consistent in their decisions. Actually, I am for the abolishment of the UN. That whole bunch is not worth the money it takes for them to sit around on their asses, and getting absolutely nothing worthwhile done. I would castrate that hog, and let him wander around without any authority." The UN is stumping for various forms of worldwide taxes to finance itself. We barely dodged a small (at first) fee per ticket to benefit Turtle Bay.
