I haven't played many multi-table tournaments, except for a few free rolls. I've been narrowing it down to where I finish well and have found some interesting things.

1. 5 or 6 player single table tournaments can be fun, but if you aren't first, your payoff is minimal for second and you lose in every other position.

2. Multi table tournaments end up with a huge blind to stack ratio so that you have to play hands you normally would fold. So do the other folks, but I consider that a crapshoot and not poker. I have made money in a few of these freerolls, mainly on NoblePoker, but I'm not going to invest in these things.

3. Single table limit tournaments are also blind intense. Nobody goes out until the blinds get onerous.

4. I prosper at full, no limit single tables. The blinds usually don't get so high that you have to bet unless you've got a very small stack or you're down to the last 3 players. Yet, they are high enough that you will bet a decent hand and not just hide until everyone else busts out. You can put it all on the line at any time, so the nuclear option is present. And you actually make a very nice payoff if you are second. Third isn't much, but, then, you finished third, turkey! <G>

I don't play much and mostly play small online. Prefer the live table. The bride and I are going out Saturday to try our hand at a local club.
