"PS: I'm afraid I don't buy factory ink cartridges any more. The refurbished ones work just fine."

I've wondered how this will effect my HP going forward. Printer profits seem to be less important than in the past (but still the leader). I have an HP all in one photosmart printer. I use it to print copies of checks I get sent so I have a record for the IRS. I've made a few prints of digital pictures and it was OK but not fantastic quality. When it was time to reorder ink, I found I can buy replace the black cartridge with a second 3 color cartridge to get "photoquality" prints... but no more cheap black photos! I ordered a set of cartridges from Amazon (from my links) to get a great price so I'll see how they work... but I think I'll vote for cheap ink for most mundane tasks and then send my digital photos to some fancy processor (like Longs or Costco) with fancy ink printers... to do the few photos I might want to mount in the future. I much prefer to show people my pictures now in digital format where they can see them on one of my nice monitors.... some I know have sent me photos with sound in the background while I view their slide shows...

I think I am talking myself into a bit more HP profit taking, perhaps when this current rally slows.....
