that is interesting ,, what is the mission? to place our troops in all the towns in Iraq? Or get the Iraq troops up to point they can take care of the towns along with a police force I took that to mean that the generals didn't think the Iraqi forces were yet up to holding the towns.

I dont think people seem to realize, Iraq had NO POLICE or ARMED FORCES after we disbanned EVERYTHING since they were all Baathists. That might have been a mistake, but its done with. Now, IMHO we are rebuilding and its coming along well. But, its gonna take a little more time. I bet in six months we are going to feel a lot better about things IF we can just be patient. If you think about it, Saddam controlled 80% of the population very effectively with 20% of the country being Sunni's. Now its reversed, SURELY 80% of the population can EVENTUALLY control 20% of the population, just give them a chance. jdn
