My husband's parents bought a piece of property in NJ where the local casino once sat. The property was on a cliff over looking the Atlantic Ocean. During prohibition the rum runners brought their booze ashore at the foot of the cliff and used the tunnel and crude elevator that had been built to bring it up to the gamblers in the casino. His Dad was a dr and once treated Vito Genevese's wife for some.....uh-hum.....bruising. They lived 5 houses away. Then there are the stories my Grandmother used to tell me about when my grandfather was a member of the World's Worker Party.
